What is in the case
The supplier states no weight for the 4OZ pack, so we quote it as a pack and publish no price per pound for it. That is a limit of the source, and the reason our figure stays comparable from one week to the next: a per-pound price built on an assumed case weight moves whenever the assumption does.

About Micro opal basil
Opal basil is the purple-leaved basil, and the micro cut buys a kitchen two things at once: the flavour of basil and a colour that nothing else on a produce list provides. The leaf is a deep violet-black on top, and it holds that colour against oil and acid rather than going grey the way a purple lettuce does. It sits on tomato plates, on burrata and on anything where a cook wants basil without the flat green of a conventional leaf. Against the green micro basils it is a colour decision first and a flavour decision second — the taste is close.
Buying notes
Buy it for the colour and be honest about that: if a dish only needs the aroma, green micro basil or a torn mature leaf does the same work for less. Check the leaf is uniformly dark; a batch grown short of light comes up patchy green-purple and loses the one thing it was bought for.
